The privileges in Chile nowadays
Faced with the events that we have experienced as a society lately, as Empatthy we want to turn our attention to privileges and how to build around them.
From our point of view, privilege should not only create a sense of gratitude or moral responsibility, but should also encourage us to seek solutions to certain problems, concerns or fears and even give us the power to address them.
Our privilege is a tool that gives us access to resources, networks and at the same time gives us the power we must use to create changes and extend those benefits to all. We must not be blind to our privileges, we must not deny them, much less reject them. What really builds in the social environment is that we who have access to privilege recognize them, that we can exercise them for justice and in parallel we look for ways to extend them to others who do not have access to them today.
In this way, privilege is also transformed into a mission, a duty and brings with it the enormous responsibility of making them as extensive as possible, so that they add, unite and do not divide us and segregate as happens today.
